Welcome to The BAHSHE 60th Anniversary Conference website

Hosted by Brownlow Medical

Liverpool Capital of Culture 2008

We warmly invite you to join us in Liverpool during our Capital of Culture Year as we host the Annual BAHSHE Conference.  The theme this year is ‘Improving Communication, Delivering Excellence’.

This will be the second conference Liverpool has hosted for BAHSHE, some of you will remember the first back in 1997.

We have put together a varied and interesting conference starting on the Sunday evening with Professor of Psychiatry Christopher Lauber who will deliver the Malleson Lecture talking on Suicidal Ideation, followed by a BBQ in the lovely grounds at the Halls of Residence.

Monday we have workshops on Sexual Health, Mental Health, Diabetes, Tropical Medicine and are joined by Jon Wilks, Management Consultant – for those of you who have seen Jon before at Practice Manager Conferences you’ll know he is both informative and entertaining.

Tuesday we have the President’s morning followed by the 60th Birthday Celebration of BAHSHE during the AGM.  In the afternoon we have Sports Medicine, Eating Disorders, Cardiac Sudden Death Syndrome and Employment Law Update.

Wednesday morning we have AFTA Thought who provide an unconventional approach to training and will be challenging our attitudes to students through drama – don’t worry there will be no role plays but plenty of entertainment!  We then have a choice of skills workshops for you to attend including CPR, Implanon / Coils, Botox and De-escalation skills.  We also have a session on Chronic Severe Headaches.  The afternoon allows time to tour our beautiful city yourself or join us on a tour of St Georges Hall or Anthony Gormley’s ‘Another Place’ statues at Crosby beach or play Golf at Wallasey Golf Course.

The social events will also provide a valuable opportunity to network and see some of the wonderful sites our city has to offer.  We have organised a Ferry across the Mersey with a Beatles Tribute Band on the Monday evening and will hold the Annual Dinner at the beautiful Palm House in Sefton Park.

We hope you will agree that the conference offers a range of interesting topics as well as a valuable opportunity to network with colleagues providing Student Health Services both nationally and internationally.

Hope to see you in July!
